Urban Garden - Fentiman Road
This large urban garden started off as a wild overgrown orchard, which was rather beautiful in its own way, especially for London. The garden was designed in conjunction with the client, Architect Peter Romaniuk and interior designer Mary Fox-Linton. The Outdoor rooms were created to link with the views from both the front and rear of the property, and the architecture was the lead to the style and decoration. Mary Fox-Linton and her assistant Louise decided on the colour of both the interior and exterior Vanilla Bean. Then the internal floor of cream Limestone was chosen and also used for the exterior terrace ,and Pathways and mulch of Cotswold chippings were used to link in with this theme. The accent colour for the interior was orange, black and lime green, hence the colours also used within the planting at all times of the year. The strong architectural identidy to work with the house was the use of Flame-shaped Hornbeams (Carpinus betulus ) planted in lines, and matching arches (3) to divide the garden up. The lines of planting in the Grey garden consisted of Tuecrium fruticans ,Santolina incana , Helichysum , Hebe pageii sutherlandii and Onothiopogun, with lines of orange and black tulips in the spring and orange lilies and dahlias in the summer. There was interesting lines of Boxwood Spheres , and one large panal of spheres at the end of the Entertaining Terrace.
