Show Gardens - Chelsea 2002 - Sanctuary Garden for Merrill Lynch
The Gold Medal winning Sanctuary Garden for Merrill Lynch in 2002 was about creating a haven, which I think a garden is all about. The water feature was inspired by the sculpture by Ben Nicholson at Sutton place in Surrey ,and was a water wall with a circular light box within it to represent the sun and the moon, without which life would not be possible. The wavy grass panal is a representation of the umbilical cord of life, together with the five senses sculptures by Stephen Cox makes life as we know it today. This garden was designed whilst I was at Woodhams.
